The Chuwi Hi8 comes with Android 4.4.4 stock and Play Store is working out of the box. There are some bloatware applications, but all of them can be uninstalled, which I did, except one - the Chuwi App store, but you can simply disable it. 

The firmware without bloatware is very quick and I encountered no slow down or stutters. You have a nice partition of 6.67 GB free space on the internal storage for  user games & apps. The CPU is working great and the WiFi speed is purely fantastic. Wifi Internet speed tested gets incredible values. For download the speed is 56 Mbps and the upload speed is 40 Mbps.

In Antutu Video Tester 3.0 Chuwi Hi8 tablet scores an amazing 836 points, a very good score ever in this test ranking. It played smoothly almost all video file types: 15 audio / video formats fully supported, 11 audio / video formats partially supported, 4 audio / video formats not supported yet. 

In Antutu Benchmark 5.7.1 the device achieves also an amazing score, about 34.608 points.


Chuwi Hi8 Intel tablet is a great ultimate and its powerful CPU is able to do great performance.

How to easily install Windows 10 Pro with all drivers on Chuwi Hi8 tablet

This is an easy steps tutorial on how to install Windows 10 Pro latest build on Chuwi Hi8 tablet:

1. Download latest Windows 10 Pro x86 build - en_windows_10_pro_10240_x86_dvd - from here. If you have problems, you can use the provided MediaCreationTool - for Win10.
2. Copy it on a micro SD card or USB flash, insert it into Chuwi Hi8 tablet, mount the image and start install the Windows 10 setup. In my case, I choose a clean install. Finish the setup and finally reboot into Windows 10 Pro.
3. Download Windows Drivers for Chuwi Hi8 tablet from here or here. For the Chuwi Hi8 drivers, please use Doubledriver to restore them all at once, alternatively you can extract and install them one by one, but it’s more laborious. If you have problems with the calibration of the display, make sure to install 'chuwi-hi8_touch'. Reboot the system. [Update] You can also download the full backup of Windows 10 drivers - BayTrail 02.08.2015 13-33-46.rar - from here or here. Use the provided Double Driver application to simply restore the missing drivers from the collection, just locate the extracted folder.
4. To switch to Android just download and install Insyde_Q2S software. Download Insyde_Q2S from here, here or here.

Chuwi Vi8 Super Edition released - An Android and Windows 8.1 dual-boot tablet

Lots of Intel powered tablets have been released this year, running either Android OS or Windows 8.1, only very few of them could dual-boot both OS. Even those tablets which do support dual-booting normally require people to shutdown from one operating system before switching to the other. Fortunately, the newly released Chuwi Vi8 Super Edition makes switching between two systems much easier for its users. This is similar to Onda V919 3G Air Dual Boot.


According to Chuwi, the Vi8 Super Edition tablet only requires users one touch on the screen to switch from Android 4.4 to Windows 8.1, or the other way around. Which is a huge step forward from some of the RAMOS dual-booting tablets released earlier this year, which requires users to shut the tablet down and then boot into another OS.


The Chuwi Vi8 Super Edition features an 8-inch IPS display at the resolution of 1280*800, an Intel Atom Bay-trail Z3735F quad-core X86 processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMc internal storage. It is now on sale for only RMB549 ($88).


CHUWI Vi8 Announced, the cheapest Windows tablet with 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM

CHUWI announced on its official website today that they would soon release a Windows tablet that is not only affordable to all users, but also offers much more usability than those other budget Windows tablets on the market now. Priced at RMB499 ($82), the Vi8 has the same 8-inch IPS display at 1280*800 and Intel Z3735F quad-core processor as seen on many other budget Windows tablets, but it has 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM, twice as much as the memory setup in the PIPO W4 and the Ployer MOMO8W.

The CHUWI Vi8 runs authorized Windows 8.1 out of the box, and is also preinstalled with Office365, which will be totally free for 1 year. Also, according to CHUWI, their team of engineers will soon develop an Android ROM for the Vi8.

The CHUWI Vi8 will go on sale in early December.
