Elephone P9000 smartphone no bezel renders

Elephone have sent over new renders of their forthcoming P9000, the P9000 features a Heilo P10 CPU and will come with Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS,  the screen measuring in at 5.5″ looks great in the renders, this is the no bezel variant with FHD screen resolution of 1920×1080.

The 21MP rear camera and 8MP front cameras on the P9000 should help to put the handset up there in the 2015 flagship ranking, as will Elephone’s choice to include 4GB of RAM and 32GB ROM.

For the Elephone P9000 No bezel, Elephone have broken away from the 2 standard fingerprint sensor positions and have instead integrated a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, it will be interesting to see how this works in the real world.

Another interesting observation that can be made whilst looking at renders of the Elephone P9000 No bezel side, is the inclusion of a red button, Elephone have not advised what this is for but my money is on it being a dedicated camera button.

The phone looks to be fairly deep, hopefully this will mean that the Elephone P9000 No bezel will have included a decent sized battery in the P9000, something that will allow us to make full use of the Helio P10 processor and the gorgeous looking front screen for many hours between charges.

Elephone are to launch a new 10,000mAh power bank that will retail internationally at just $4.99!

I remember a few years ago when the internet was set a blaze with news of the 10,000mAh Xiaomi power bank. At that time no other company was offering such a large rechargeable powerbank at such an incredibly low-price! It instantly made Xiaomi a recognised brand (for accessories) and that power bank went on to sell incredibly well.
 
The success of the Xiaomi power bank was seen by rivals and soon we saw ZTE, Asus, Meizu, OnePlus and others all make their own versions, but none managed to catch the attention of Xiaomi’s so what hope does Elephone have?
Well there is one substantial difference between the new 10,000mAh Elephone power bank and other’s and thats the insane price tag! Somehow Elephone have managed to create a huge capacity power bank that will retail at just $4.99, internationally!

 
There is going to be some speculation as to how Elephone have managed this and I am sure some of you won’t be convinced, but seeing how fast technology moves along in China and how much time has passed since Xiaomi’s device, it could be very possible for Elephone to source 10.000mAh cells are low prices.
For now we only have these 2 images of the Elephone 10,000mAh power bank, but from them we can see that the battery pack will feature dual USB’s, a micro USB for charging, power button, and there are markings on the base for the cell size. The images also show white, pink and blue options and what could be a rubber finish.
 
At $4.99 I’m sure Elephone are going to see huge sales especially as Christmas draws closer and customers look for suitable tech related stocking fillers. In addition to announcing the price and images of their powerbank, Elephane are also asking fans to think of a name and slogan for the product, and offer a free battery pack to the winning choice. Any name suggestions?

Tougher Elephone S2 & S2 Plus are coming soon

The addition of Corning gorilla glass to the S2’s will be sen by many as a great improvement, both phones feature glass front and rear panels, making the risk of breakage from a drop considerably higher than a normal phone.

Now at least with the Gorilla glass the odds are stacked a little more in your favour, having said that its still a good idea to get a case on the phone to protect it.

If you are looking for a handset to use in North America on networks such as AT&T, Bell Mobility, Commnet wireless, Lusacell, Rogers, SaskTell or Telus then the addition of WCDMA 850MHz will be a real plus point for you.

Hopefully with the release of the new batch of  S2 and S2 Plus phones, Elephone will have fixed the GPS issues that had affected the earlier releases of the phone.

The S2 is a stylish handset with a great design featuring diamond styling beneath the rear glass panels, the design refracts light differently depending on the angle that light hits it from.

Whilst the phone maybe a mid priced handset and therefore not aimed at the high end market place, it is a phone that draws glances and starts conversations from style conscious people and those that like things a little different from the usual bland designs that adorn most android handsets.

MediaTek Labs today announced a MediaTek LinkIt™ ONE and Grove IoT Starter Kit Powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Suited for developers, the new Starter Kit includes the MediaTek LinkIt ONE, one of the world’s most connected platforms, and a range of Grove sensors from Seeed Studio to help customers bring their ideas to life in IoT. AWS provides a complete cloud services and cloud management portfolio that will give IoT developers using LinkIt ONE fast, flexible, secure and stable access to the cloud. 
 
The MediaTek LinkIt ONE SDK (for Arduino) includes libraries that have been certified to run AWS IoT Services in order to create software for the LinkIt ONE board using the popular Arduino IDE, and connect it to one of the world’s biggest commercial cloud services. A range of Grove sensors easily plug into the LinkIt ONE, allowing developers to securely store and manage all the sensor data from their IoT devices in the cloud using AWS.

Video: How to easily flash firmware on Mlais M7 Plus smartphone

Yes, it's very easy indeed. When I first got the Mlais M7 Plus smartphone the firmware version was MLAIS_M7_PLUS_20150912, but the fingerprint sensor didn't work as it should. After the update to MLAIS_M7_PLUS_20150916 version, fingerprint sensor and related applications are working just fine now.

What do you need?
1. Download SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1512.00.000 from here, here or here. (25 MB)
2. Download latest Android stock firmware MLAIS_M7_PLUS_20150916 from here. (756 MB)

What do you have to do?
Take a look at the below video and follow these steps:
1) Unzip SP tool and firmware
2) In SP tool folder, locate and run Flash tool.exe
3) On Flash Tool, under the 'Download' tab, Click on "Scattering Loading" and select the scatter file (txt) in the firmware folder
4) Once selected, the respective "Download Agent" and "Scattering Loading" files will be loaded onto the SP tool
5) On Flash Tool, click on the "Option" tab and look for
a) "Connection and select High Speed Option
b) "Download" and select "DA DL ALL with CheckSum"
6) In Flash Tool, under the Download tab, click on the drop down button and choose "Download Only" 
7) Turn off your phone, take out the sim card, TF card and battery. Do not put back anything.
8) On Flash Tool, under the Download tab, click on the Green colour "Download" button
9) Connect your phone to the usb cable.
10) You will see a red progress bar at the bottom. Once done, a Green colour Circle will appear and YOU ARE DONE!

MediaTek Announces Two Software Development Kits for Apple HomeKit

MediaTek Expands iOS Developers’ Connected Home Opportunities with MT7688 and Upcoming MT7687


MediaTek, a pioneering fabless semiconductor company and a market leader in cutting-edge systems-on-chip (SoC), today announced it has released two software development kits (SDKs) that support Apple HomeKit. Apple HomeKit is a framework built into iOS that enables secure home control from iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple Watch and lets home accessories work together in smart ways.

“By adding HomeKit support, MediaTek takes another step in our mission to connect the world’s next billion people,” said SR Tsai, General Manager of MediaTek's Wireless Connectivity and Networking Business Unit. “Customers have been looking for innovative, simple and secure technologies that power their home and our new SDKs with HomeKit support delivers that to them.”

MediaTek’s new SDKs support two SoCs, the MT7688 and MT7687. The MT7688, for smart appliances runs on Linux and powers higher performance, more complex use cases, such as wireless speakers and webcams. The MT7687 is a low-power WiFi SoC, which enables any home appliance from garage doors, power switch to thermostats, and runs on the FreeRTOS operating system. This means all such appliances and uses can now be securely controlled from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using the MediaTek SoCs.

Smart appliances refer to appliances that are connected to the Internet, and are capable of carrying out their functions through remote control from a smart device, or on their own. As technology advances and prices decrease, smart home appliances are expected to be widely adopted on a global scale.
